Site and Design Goal:
Large storage warehouses cut through the residential neighborhood of the suburban town of Clifton, New Jersey, where the scale of buildings drastically shift from single-family residential to industrial warehouses. The expansion of Boris Lurie Art Foundation (BLAF) acts as the mediation between small private housings and large warehouse typology, filling the void of a medium scale.  Taking roads and vehicles out of the equation, the experience of American suburbs such as Clifton, New Jersey, is very much fragmented and isolated. The proposal tackles the discontinuity between small and large, private and public.

Site

Design Proposal:
The expansion consists of a dedicated exhibition gallery, a flexible multi-media room, a cafe, artist residency and foundation office.
Following the desire of making art storage inventory spaces accessible to public viewing, the ground if the expansion connects the existing art storage, while envisioning a more permeable gallery exhibition and artist residency space.
